How to register for Locker Facility?

STEP 1: Choose a Bank & Check Availability

  • Visit the nearest bank branch where you hold an account (most banks provide lockers only to their existing customers).
  • Inquire about the availability of lockers—lockers are often in high demand, and some banks maintain a waiting list.
  • Check the locker sizes available (small, medium, large) based on your requirements.

STEP 2: Fill Out the Application Form

  • If a locker is available, request an application form from the bank.
  • Provide details such as:Name, Account number, Address, Locker size preference, Nominee details (optional but recommended)

STEP 3: Submit Required Documents

  • Banks require identity and address proof for security purposes. Common documents include:

    For Individuals:

    • Identity Proof
      • Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving License
    • Address Proof
      • Aadhaar Card, Utility Bill, Bank Statement, or Ration Card
    • Passport-size Photographs

    For Joint Locker Holders:

      • If applying jointly, all applicants must submit KYC documents and be present during the agreement signing.

STEP 4: Sign the Locker Agreement

  • The bank will provide a locker agreement, which outlines:Terms of usage Rent charges and penalties Responsibilities of the locker holder
  • Carefully read and sign the agreement before proceeding.

STEP 5: Pay the Security Deposit & Annual Rental Charges

  • Locker rentals vary based on size and bank location. Charges are usually debited from your bank account annually.
  • Some banks ask for a security deposit (fixed deposit) to ensure locker rent payments.

STEP 6: Receive the Locker Key & Access Instructions

  • Once the process is complete, the bank will provide one unique locker key (for physical lockers).
  • For digital or biometric lockers, you will receive access credentials.
  • Only the locker holder (or authorized signatory) can access the locker.

STEP 7: Use & Maintain the Locker

  • Access the locker during banking hours as per the bank’s policies.
  • Some banks require you to operate the locker at least once a year to keep it active.
  • If you lose the key, inform the bank immediately (a penalty is charged for breaking and replacing the lock).

STEP 8: Surrendering the Locker (If Needed)

  • If you no longer need the locker, you can surrender it by returning the key and clearing pending dues.
  • The bank will issue a closure acknowledgment.
